Privacy Policy
ColorJoy · HouseofTech Innovation Pvt Ltd
Last updated: 15 July 2026
HouseofTech Innovation Pvt Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”, or the “Company”) operates the ColorJoy mobile application (the “App”).
ColorJoy is a digital colouring book for children. It offers a library of hand-drawn colouring pages — animals, alphabets, fairytales, mandalas, nature, and vehicles — that a child fills in by tapping areas with colours from a palette. Finished artwork is saved to a personal gallery. Some template packs are available only to families with a paid subscription.
ColorJoy is made for children, so we designed it to collect as little as possible. The App asks for no device permissions other than internet access. It does not use the camera, the microphone, the photo gallery, contacts, or location. It shows no third-party advertising. A child can use ColorJoy without an account, and their drawings stay on their own device.
This Privacy Policy is written for parents and legal guardians. It explains what ColorJoy does and does not collect, and how a parent can review or delete anything we hold. By allowing a child to use ColorJoy, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not let your child use the App.
1. Device Permissions We Use
- Internet access — the only permission ColorJoy requests. It is used to load colouring pages, and (if you have chosen to switch it on) to sync your child’s gallery.
- ColorJoy does not request camera, microphone, photo/media, storage, contacts, location, or notification permissions.
2. Information We Collect
A. Used Without an Account (the default)
By default, ColorJoy works entirely on your child’s device and requires no sign-in. In this mode:
- Your child’s artwork and chosen age mode (“Little Kids” / “Big Kids”) are stored only in the App’s local storage on the device. They are not transmitted to us.
- We do not ask for a name, email address, phone number, birthday, or photograph.
- We do not create a user profile or assign a persistent advertising identifier.
B. If a Parent Enables Cloud Gallery
Cloud gallery is optional and off unless a parent turns it on. It sits behind a parental gate (a simple arithmetic question a young child is unlikely to answer). If you enable it and sign in:
- The parent’s Google account email and account identifier, as shared by Google when you sign in. This is a parent’s account, not the child’s.
- Your child’s saved artwork — the finished picture and its title, template, and creation date — stored against that account so it can be restored on another device.
- Artwork is generated inside the App from our own bundled templates. It never contains a photograph, because the App has no access to the camera or photo gallery.
C. If You Purchase a Subscription
- Your subscription status, plan, and a transaction reference from the app store, so we know which template packs to unlock.
- We never see or store your card, UPI, or bank details — see section 6.
D. Automatically Collected Information
- Basic technical data needed to deliver content and keep the App working: device type, operating system, app version, and IP address (used in transit, for content delivery and security).
- Crash and error diagnostics, where your device or app store is configured to send them.
- We do not run behavioural analytics or advertising SDKs inside ColorJoy, and we do not build interest profiles of children.
E. Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect any personal information from children. Where an account exists, it belongs to a parent.
- We do not access the camera, microphone, photo library, contacts, call logs, SMS, or location.
- We do not use facial recognition, and we do not collect biometrics or government IDs.
- We do not sell or rent personal data, and we do not share it for advertising or any commercial purpose.
- We do not show third-party ads or use advertising identifiers.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Provide the colouring library and save your child’s artwork.
- Restore and sync the gallery across devices, if a parent enabled cloud gallery.
- Process subscription payments and unlock the template packs you paid for.
- Send essential service messages to a parent, such as receipts and renewal notices.
- Keep artwork on our servers appropriate and safe (see section 5).
- Fix bugs, improve performance, and develop new colouring pages.
We do not use your or your child’s data for advertising, profiling, or automated decision-making.
4. Children’s Privacy (COPPA, GDPR-K & DPDPA)
ColorJoy is intended for children aged approximately 3–12, used with a parent’s knowledge. We have designed it so that a child can enjoy the whole colouring experience without ever providing personal information to us.
- In its default state ColorJoy collects no personal information from a child. Nothing your child draws leaves their device.
- Any account, sign-in, or purchase is reserved for a parent or guardian and placed behind a parental gate. Children cannot subscribe, sign in, or transact.
- Where cloud gallery is enabled, the data we hold is a parent’s account details plus the child’s drawings. Under the US Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the EU/UK GDPR (including Article 8 protections for children), and India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, this is done on the basis of verifiable parental consent, given by the parent when they pass the parental gate and sign in.
- We do not condition a child’s participation on disclosing more information than is reasonably necessary.
- Parents have the right to review the information we hold, to refuse to permit its further collection, and to have it deleted. Email support@houseoftech.ai or use the Delete Account page.
- If you believe we hold information about a child that was provided without a parent’s consent, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
5. How Your Child’s Artwork Is Handled
- Artwork is created inside the App from our own templates and a colour palette. It contains no photographs and no free-text entry beyond an optional title.
- If cloud gallery is off (the default), artwork exists only on your device and we never receive it.
- If cloud gallery is on, artwork is transmitted securely and stored against the parent’s account, solely to sync and restore the gallery.
- Safety moderation: where artwork is stored on our servers, a small number of authorised staff may review it to ensure the service is not being misused, and may hide content that breaches our rules. Reviewers see the picture and an abbreviated account identifier — not your child’s name.
- We do not use artwork to train artificial-intelligence models, and we do not publish, sell, or share it.
6. Subscription & Payment Information
- Payments are processed by RBI-licensed payment gateway partners (such as Razorpay, PhonePe, or similar providers), supporting UPI & UPI Autopay, credit/debit cards, and netbanking. The active payment gateway may change from time to time without prior notice.
- Each payment gateway handles and stores your payment details under its own security standards (PCI-DSS). We never see or store your card number, UPI ID, or bank details.
- We retain only your subscription status, plan, and transaction reference, for billing, accounting, and tax compliance.
- Purchases sit behind a parental gate so that a child cannot buy a subscription. See the Payment & Cancellation Policy.
7. Information Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell or rent personal data, and we do not share it for advertising. We share limited data only:
- With service providers acting as our processors under data-protection agreements, and only as needed to run the App: cloud hosting and storage (Google Firebase), content delivery, and payment gateways (Razorpay, PhonePe).
- To comply with legal obligations, court orders, or lawful government requests.
- In case of merger, acquisition, or restructuring — with notice to users, and with the same protections continuing to apply.
- To protect the rights, safety, and security of children using the App, our users, and the platform.
8. International Data Transfers
- ColorJoy is offered worldwide. Where cloud features are used, data may be processed on cloud infrastructure outside your country, including in India, the United States, and the European Union.
- Where required (for example for users in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland), we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms.
9. Data Storage & Security
- Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Stored account and gallery data is protected with access controls and industry-standard safeguards, and access rules restrict each account to its own artwork.
- The App does not permit device backups of its data to be extracted by other apps.
- While we take strong precautions, no system is completely secure.
10. Data Retention
- Local artwork stays on your device until your child or you delete it, or the App is uninstalled. We cannot access or recover it.
- Where cloud gallery is enabled, account and artwork data is retained while the account is active, and deleted within 30 days of a deletion request.
- Transaction records are retained for the period required by tax and accounting law (typically up to 7 years).
- Diagnostic data may be retained in anonymised form for up to 24 months.
- You may request deletion at any time — see the Delete Account page.
11. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the EU/UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) and the California Privacy Rights Act, India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, COPPA, and similar laws, including the right to:
- Access a copy of the personal data we hold
- Correct or update it
- Request its deletion (“right to be forgotten”)
- Object to or restrict certain processing, and data portability
- Withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior processing)
- Opt out of “sale” or “sharing” of personal information — note that we do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA, and we never do so for children
- Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority
Parents may exercise these rights on behalf of their child. Contact us at the email below; we respond within the timelines required by applicable law and never discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
12. Third-Party Services
- ColorJoy uses Google Firebase (hosting, database, and file storage) and, for optional sign-in, Google Sign-In. Billing is handled by our payment gateway partners (Razorpay, PhonePe).
- These services operate under their own privacy policies.
- ColorJoy contains no third-party advertising networks, no analytics SDKs, and no social-media plug-ins.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
- We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
- Significant changes will be communicated in the App. Where a change materially affects the collection of a child’s data, we will seek fresh parental consent.
- Continued use of ColorJoy means acceptance of the updated policy.
