HouseofTech Innovation Pvt Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”, or the “Company”) operates the UPI Soundbox Alert mobile application (the “App”).
UPI Soundbox Alert is a software “soundbox” for shopkeepers and merchants. When you receive a UPI or bank payment, the App reads the transaction SMS sent to your phone by your bank or UPI provider, detects the amount, and announces it aloud by voice (for example, “Five hundred rupees received”) so you can confirm payments without looking at your phone. Certain features are available only to paid subscribers.
We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data responsibly. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your information when you use UPI Soundbox Alert.
By downloading, installing, or using UPI Soundbox Alert, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. SMS Permission & How It Is Used
UPI Soundbox Alert requests SMS permission (READ_SMS / RECEIVE_SMS) for one core purpose only: to detect incoming UPI and bank payment messages so it can announce the received amount aloud.
- The App reads incoming SMS to identify transaction / credit alerts from banks and UPI providers and to extract the payment amount, sender reference, and date/time for the voice announcement and your in-app alert history.
- SMS content is processed locally on your device. We do not upload, transmit, sell, or store the contents of your SMS inbox on our servers.
- We do not read, use, or share personal, OTP, or non-financial messages beyond what is technically required to identify payment alerts on your device.
- You may revoke SMS permission at any time from your device settings — the App will simply stop detecting and announcing new payments until the permission is restored.
2. Information We Collect
A. Information You Provide Directly
- Mobile phone number (used for OTP-based login).
- Optional profile information such as your name, shop / business name, and preferred announcement language and voice.
- Subscription and billing-related details when purchasing a premium plan.
- Feedback, support queries, or communications you send to us.
B. Payment Alert Data (from SMS, on-device)
- Amount, date/time, and reference of payment-related transactions detected from your SMS, used to play the voice announcement and to show your in-app payment-alert history.
- This history is stored on your device. If you enable cloud backup or multi-device sync (where offered), only this summarised alert data — not your raw SMS inbox — is stored on our secure servers.
C. Automatically Collected Information
- Device information: device type, operating system, app version, IP address, unique device identifiers.
- Usage data: features used, number of alerts announced, time spent in the App.
- Performance data: crash reports, diagnostics, and error logs.
- Approximate location, if you grant the App permission, used only to suggest regional and language defaults.
- Analytics data collected via third-party tools to improve the App.
D. Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not upload or store the contents of your SMS inbox on our servers.
- We do not access your contact list, call logs, camera, photos, or microphone.
- We do not collect government IDs, bank passwords, UPI PINs, or card CVVs.
- We do not store your full card or UPI details — payment information for subscriptions is handled directly by our payment gateway partner.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Authenticate your account via OTP and maintain secure login sessions.
- Detect UPI / bank payment SMS on your device and announce the received amount aloud in your chosen language.
- Maintain a record of detected payment alerts so you can review your received payments inside the App.
- Process subscription payments and manage billing.
- Send service messages such as OTP, payment receipts, and important account notices.
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or unauthorised access.
- Improve App performance, fix bugs, and develop new features.
4. Subscription & Payment Information
- Subscription payments are handled by RBI-licensed payment gateway partners (such as Razorpay, PhonePe, or similar providers) using UPI, cards, netbanking, and UPI Autopay. The active payment gateway may change from time to time without prior notice.
- The payment gateway partner processes and stores card and UPI mandate details under its own security and privacy policies.
- We retain only your subscription status, plan, and transaction reference for billing and tax compliance.
5. Information Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell or rent your personal data, and we never share the contents of your SMS. We share limited data only:
- With service providers (cloud hosting, payment gateway partners such as Razorpay or PhonePe, OTP delivery via voicensms.in, analytics) under data-protection agreements.
- To comply with legal obligations, court orders, or lawful government requests.
- In case of mergers, acquisitions, or restructuring (with notice to users).
- To protect rights, safety, and platform security.
6. Data Storage & Security
- SMS contents are read and processed on your device and are not transmitted to our servers.
- We use industry-standard safeguards including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and access controls for the limited data we do store.
- Server-stored data (such as account details and, if enabled, backed-up alert history) is held on cloud infrastructure (including outside India) with appropriate safeguards.
- While we take strong precautions, no system is completely secure.
7. Data Retention
- Account data is retained while your account is active.
- On-device payment-alert history remains on your device until you clear it or uninstall the App.
- Transaction records for your subscription are retained for the duration required by Indian tax and accounting law (typically up to 7 years).
- Analytics data may be retained in anonymised form for up to 24 months.
- You may request account and data deletion at any time — see the Delete Account page.
8. Your Privacy Rights
Under applicable laws (including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023), you may have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct or update your information
- Request deletion of your data
- Withdraw consent
- File a complaint with authorities

9. Children’s Privacy
- UPI Soundbox Alert is a business tool intended for users aged 18 and above.
- We do not knowingly collect data from children.
10. Third-Party Services
- The App may use third-party tools including Razorpay (payments), voicensms.in (OTP), cloud storage providers, and analytics services.
- These services operate under their own privacy policies.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
- We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
- Significant changes will be communicated through the App.
- Continued use of UPI Soundbox Alert means acceptance of the updated policy.
